Cookbook Recipe
Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte
Substitutions for this Paleo Pumpkin Spice Latte Can I make this whole30? Yes, omit the maple syrup. Can I use honey? Yes, it will work fine but it will not be vegan. I like this honey. Can I use different milk? You can use any milk in this recipe and it will work just fine. I prefer non-dairy milk but if you like regular milk and don’t follow any specific diet feel free to use that! Homemade almond milk or walnut milk go great in this recipe! I don’t have pumpkin pie spice, what can I use? I highly recommend ordering pumpkin pie spice simply because it’s great for so many thing (smoothies, stirring in coffee, adding to yogurt, and of course pie!) but if you don’t have it on hand and still want to make this you can use 1/4 tsp cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg and ginger. It will still be delicious Can I make this without an espresso machine? Our Nespresso is one of the most used kitchen utensils that we have and I think it is well worth the $$ (If you buy even ONE latte a week at Starbucks and make it at home instead this will pay for itself!) You could sub in 1/2 c coffee to this recipe but it will not have the same amount of caffeine and may taste a little watered down.. Treat yourself and get the nespresso machine (They’re only $118!) Can I make this without a frother? Yes! You can whisk the milk vigorously in the pan and it will get super frothy!

Cookbook Recipe
Stuffed Acorn Squash
Substitutions for this recipe: Meat– You can use ground beef, ground pork, sausage or ground chicken instead of turkey in this recipe if you’d like. We also have a Beef Stuffed Acorn Squash recipe. Whole30/Paleo – simply omit the cheese Mushrooms – If you don’t like mushrooms, omit them. You could also add in some chopped onions in their place, but I would halve the amount. Herbs – If you don’t have fresh rosemary, sub with 1 tablespoon dried rosemary. You can also sub with thyme. Cheese – Cheddar, mozzarella or gruyere are all delicious! Vegetarian – I haven’t tried making this vegetarian, but I think it would be delicious if you subbed in chickpeas and a mix of quinoa or rice as the filling. WW Freestyle – The only points in this recipe come from the olive oil and cheese. Feel free to sub/adjust to have a lower point meal. Points calculated using 99% fat free turkey

Cookbook Recipe
Healthy Banana Protein Muffins
Notes Substitutions for this Healthy Banana Protein Muffins Recipe: To make vegan: replace 1 egg white with 1 flax egg. Sub honey with maple syrup, use vegan protein powder. WW Freestyle note: Use Lily’s chocolate to save 1 SP per serving

Cookbook Recipe
Pumpkin Overnight Oats
What kind of oats should I use? For the recipe you’ll need to use old fashioned rolled oats. These are the only oats that will work for making overnight oats! You can’t use quick cook or steel cut oats to make overnight oats. With quick cook oats they can get too mushy when soaking overnight. With steel cut oats, they can’t soak up the moisture overnight. They need to be cooked with heat to make them edible. You’ll wind up with a big mess unless you use old fashioned overnight oats. Do you eat overnight oats cold or warm? You can eat overnight oats cold or warm! It’s up to you and your taste. I prefer to pop my overnight oats in the microwave for 20-30 seconds before eating, but if you enjoy them cold you can eat them cold! How long do the overnight oats need to soak? Overnight oats typically need at least 6 hours to soak overnight. Substitutions for this recipe: Sweetener-If you’d like to substitute honey for maple syrup you can. Vegan- You can leave out collagen. If you don’t have collagen on hand we recommend trying it. It’s awesome for adding to basically anything for additional nutrients! We always put it in our overnight oats! WW Freestyle Note: Save 2SP by using sugar free 0SP syrup

Cookbook Recipe
Healthy Cheesecake Bites
These are considered 'healthy'!

Cookbook Recipe
Paleo Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
Substitutions in this recipe: Vegan Substitutions: I tried making these cookies with out the egg and they were not as soft/chewy, and instead a little more crumbly. I didn’t try these with a flax egg, but that might also be a good substitution. If you decide to try that – let me know. Flour Substitutes: Almond and coconut flour are extremely finicky to bake with. I wouldn’t try to sub out either. If you’re looking for a nut free cookie recipe try this one. If you’re looking for a coconut flour free cookie try this one. Sweetener Substitutes: I did not test this recipe with any other sweetener. I personally love baking with maple syrup and wouldn’t recommend that you change this part of the recipe. Honey may work, but I can’t guarantee it! Chocolate Substitutes: Any chocolate will work in this. You can use chips, chunks, mini chips.. whatever you choose! WW Freestyle note: Points calculated using Lily’s Dark Chocolate Baking Chips. Save 1SP per serving by using sugar free maple syrup.

Cookbook Recipe
Balsamic Mushrooms
Substitutions: Oil: You can use avocado oil, melted butter, or canola/vegetable oil instead of olive oil. Vinegar: We used regular balsamic vinegar for this recipe but you can also do balsamic glaze, or flavor infused balsamic vinegar. I have not tried this with red white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. I wouldn’t recommend it. Mushrooms: Baby bella, portabello, white button, or really any other type of mushroom with work in this recipe. Herbs: You can substitute fresh parsley/basil for dried. Use 1 tablespoon of fresh basil or parsley instead of the dried. Spices: You could add red pepper flakes to make these spicier. Fresh rosemary would also be a delicious addition! Grilled Mushrooms with Cheese: I’m sure these would be delicious sprinkled with feta or goat cheese once they come out of the oven! Cooking Methods: See above for instructions on how to make these mushrooms on skewers or in the oven. WW Freestyle Note: The total points for this entire dish are 8, but you aren’t eating all of the oil/vinegar so I only count it for 4 points total.

Cookbook Recipe
Gluten-free Dutch Apple Pie with Snickerdoodle Streusel
Notes You can use salted or unsalted butter in this. The amount of salt would be so small and not have an impact on the outcome of the recipe, so use whichever you have on hand.

Cookbook Recipe
HEALTHY POTATO SOUP
Notes Substitutions for potato soup: There are MANY substitutions for this recipe which is what we like about it. It’s easily adaptable to your own diet/needs. Milk: You can use any milk you’d like in this recipe. Canned coconut milk is higher in fat, which mimics the taste/texture of heavy cream which is typically used in potato soup. The coconut milk does not taste like coconut, but if you’re worried about that or you don’t have it on hand you can use almond milk, light coconut milk, skim milk, whole milk, or even heavy cream will work in this recipe. Weight Watchers: The points in this recipe were calculated with the substitution of skim milk. Potatoes – You can use any potatoes in this recipe, red, baby, russet, and yellow will all work. Peeling potatoes – You don’t have to peel the potatoes in this recipe. I prefer them without the skins, but if you prefer them with the skins on – keep them on! Veggies– Feel free to add or omit more onions, celery or carrots to this recipe. Cauliflower would also be a great addition! Blender – You can use an immersion blender, regular blender, or food processor to make this potato soup creamy. To make soup chunkier – To make this soup chunkier, I recommend only pureeing some of it. You can mash some of the potatoes directly in the pot, and puree the rest. Stir the puree in with the chunks. Herbs – If you don’t have fresh rosemary you can use 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary. If you don’t like rosemary, you can also use thyme or parsley.

Cookbook Recipe
HOMEMADE TURKEY SOUP RECIPE
Notes Substituions for this turkey soup recipe: Can you make a creamy turkey soup? Sure! Stir in 1/4 cup heavy cream or coconut cream once it has cooked to make this recipe a creamy soup. Turkey Noodle Soup Recipe: Just add cooked noodles to the soup when you’re ready to serve for turkey noodle soup Spicy Turkey Soup: If you want some spice, add 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes to the soup as it’s cooking Broth: We used homemade bone broth in this recipe, but you can use chicken stock or whatever broth you have on hand. Add ins: Quinoa, Brown Rice or Noodles all work in this recipe. You can also add zucchini noodles Zucchini Noodles: For best results, I recommend adding the zucchini noodles to the bowl instead of adding to the slow cooker pot. This way your zucchini noodles/spinach won’t get soggy if you eat leftovers. You can also sub pasta for zucchini noodles. WW Freestyle Note: This can be 0SP if you use spray to sauté your veggies instead of pouring olive oil into the pan. Veggies: You can add peas, potatoes or even spinach to this recipe! Herbs – I like to add in a little chopped fresh rosemary and a bay leaf to this recipe – but you can use whatever herbs you like!

CHEESEBURGER SOUP RECIPE (3 WAYS TO COOK)
If you’re anything like me – you probably love sinking your teeth into a big juicy burger. Probably with some fries on the side. I’m a bit of a burger purist so when someone mentioned making a Cheeseburger Soup, I was a little confused.

Loaded Breakfast Burritos

Cookbook Recipe
Instant Pot Mexican Black Beans And Rice
If you wanted you could make this recipe with long grain white rice. Use 3/4 cup white rice and 1 1/4 cup water. Then use a 5 minute pressure cook time with a 10 minute natural pressure release. To make with chicken: Reduce the amount of liquid to 1 cup if using frozen chicken or 1.25 cups if using fresh chicken. Place 1 pound of chicken boneless skinless breasts/thighs on top of all the ingredients. Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. The chicken will cook along with your rice. If you want to use white rice instead of brown rice then cut up the chicken into bite size pieces or use chicken tenderloins.

Cookbook Recipe
Cereal Crunch Frozen Yogurt Breakfast Bars
Notes * Ideally choose a cereal that is low in sugar, as we are already naturally sweetening our bars with dates and dried cranberries. The yogurt may turn a yellow colour in the freezer. That's normal and it will return to its original colour if it sits in the fridge or at room temperature.

Cookbook Recipe
Instant Pot Green Enchiladas Chicken Soup

PUMPKIN OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
RECIPE VARIATIONS Substitute white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or peanut butter chips for the semisweet chocolate chips Add chopped nuts Add dried cranberries Add pepitas Substitute cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice Add additional pumpkin pie spice for extra flavor

Cookbook Recipe
Honey Garlic Chicken Breast
1. Gluten free – use cornflour / cornstarch instead. It won’t brown quite as evenly but once covered in sauce, you won’t know the difference. 2. Soy Sauce – Light or all purpose soy sauce is suitable for this recipe. I don’t recommend using Dark Soy Sauce (flavour will dominate, bottle label will say if it is Dark Soy Sauce). 3. Other proteins: This sauce is ideal to use for any protein that is suitable for searing in a pan. Use chops, steaks, cutlets! Follow the recipe as written, including dusting the protein with flour. Just adjust the cook time – the trick is to add the garlic and other sauce ingredients before it is fully cooked through, so the meat finishes cooking as the sauce reduces down into a syrupy consistency. Tofu – Use FIRM tofu. Cut “steaks” about 0.75cm / 1/4″ thick. Pat dry, spray or rub with oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, THEN lightly coat with flour. Coat base of skillet with oil over medium high heat, then cook tofu 1 min each side until crispy, then remove onto paper towels. Then make the sauce in a small saucepan or skillet using just 2 tbsp (30g) butter (instead of 3.5 tbsp), following recipe from Step 5. Serve with crispy tofu! Prawns/shrimp – use large prawns (thaw, drain well and pat dry if using frozen). Lightly coat prawns with flour per recipe and sear for 1 minute on the first side, then just 30 seconds on the other side before proceeding with Step 5. Fish – cook per recipe for chicken breast. This sauce is very, very good with fish! This is a good sauce for economical fish because it’s a strong flavoured sauce. For expensive fish, I think it’s better to let the flavour of the fish come through and serve with an elegant sauce like this Lemon Butter Sauce.

What is the Cookbook Café Platform?

Cookbook Café is our one-of-a-kind cookbook publisher, marketplace and reader. It empowers everyone to create, market and distribute a cookbook as both a web-based eBook and an iPad app. It also makes it incredibly easy for home cooks to discover and use amazing grassroots cookbooks they won't find anywhere else. Since 2012, we've published thousands of cookbooks authored by home chefs, nonprofit organizations, clubs, brands, etc. Our goal is to democratize cookbook publishing and make it easy to build an online library of amazing grassroots cookbooks.

How do I "download" a cookbook?

You don't need to "download" cookbooks or deal with any files. All of the cookbooks you select (free and paid) using Cookbook Café become available to you automatically on any device (computer, tablet or smartphone) whenever you’re logged-in to your free BakeSpace account.

Once in your library, you can access the cookbook anytime, anywhere via BakeSpace.com, as well as our Cookbook Café iPad app.

While you're checking out cookbooks, also take some time to visit other parts of the delicious BakeSpace.com community where you can swap recipes and connect with others who share your passion for food and the culinary lifestyle.

Get ready to enjoy a uniquely smart and social cookbook experience!

Once a cookbook is added to your BakeSpace library, our proprietary recipe indexing technology makes it easy for you to find any specific recipe across all of your cookbooks… so there's no need to remember which cookbook contains that perfect recipe.
